135th Street School has a Peer Mediation Program that provides:
- Self responsibility
- Trained Mediator's help their peers solve problems
- Reduction of fignts and suspensions on campus
- Students consistent selection of appropriate behavior
- Creation of a more peaceful environment
Generally, conflicts for peer mediation are may include:
- two or more more students disrupting class
- arguments over personal property
- disputes between friends
- name calling
- rumors - he said or she said issues, and
- pushing/shoving on the playground
Principals, teachers, and staff do you have students you need to refer to peer mediation?
Find referrals in the teacher workroom on the wall near the door.
Return completed referrals to L. Munoz's mailbox.
Cases will be mediated within 24 - 48 hours. This is a good way to resolve conflict before it gets out of hand.
Mediations are EVERY Wednesday.
